John and Marilyn Stover of Stover Pottery create their unique ceramic artwork in Surf City in Eastern North Carolina, a pottery rich environment steeped in tradition, and amidst the tranquility of Douglas Lake in Northern Michigan.
Marilyn's handbuilt clay forms include coiled stoneware baskets, platters and wall reliefs. She incorporates natural accents, such as handles made of seasoned cedar, grapevines, bamboo and driftwood. The harmonious blending of basic elements of nature is not only esthetically pleasing, but very rewarding to create.
John's main focus is wheel thrown pieces, both functional and decorative. He has been influenced by Asian and Indian work, from both Americas, as well as contemporary thrown, altered and carved work.
View their work on the website and on exhibit in various locations in North Carolina and Michigan. Please contact the artists to purchase artwork or to commission unique pieces for your own collection.
